Northwest is our top pick for LLC formation. The $39 package carries a business address, domain, website, email, phone line and mail scanning, plus the filing itself and a year of registered agent service. An EIN and a prepared operating agreement sit in the $139 package, not this one. It is privately held, and the Corporate Guides know the state rules they are quoting. The dashboard is plain rather than polished. At $125 a year to renew, that is a fair trade.
Pros
- The $39 entry package covers the state filing and a full year of registered agent service.
- Business Identity comes free, a business address, domain, hosted website, email address and phone line.
- Agent renewal has held at $125 a year for 20 years, with no contract and cancellation at any time.
- Registered agent mail is scanned and uploaded to your account at no extra charge, with no document cap.
- Every filing carries a 100% error-free guarantee, and Northwest files any correcting amendment at no cost.
- U.S.-based Corporate Guides who actually answer the phone.
Cons
- An EIN and a prepared operating agreement need the $139 Deluxe package, not the $39 one.
- Same-day processing only comes with the $199 Premium package.
- The free business address scans just five pieces of mail a year, unlimited scanning is $20 a month.
- Customer support is not available on weekends.
- Online cancellation process can be cumbersome.
- The free phone line covers 10 calls and 10 texts a month, unlimited talk and text is a $9 a month upgrade.
Best For: Founders who want a complete business setup (formation, address, domain, email, website, phone) in one $39 entry package.

Do I still need an Ohio registered agent if I run everything from my house and I am always home during business hours?

Yes, Ohio requires every LLC to list a statutory agent, but you can be your own at your home address, it is free. The tradeoff is your address goes on the public record and you must actually be available during business hours. That is the main reason people pay for an agent service.

The three we see most, mixing personal and business money from day one (opens you up to piercing the veil), missing post formation filings, and using a home address as the agent address then moving without updating it. The what to do after you file section on this page covers all three.

Honest answer, Ohio DIY is one of the easiest in the country, one form and $99. A service earns its fee if you want your home address off public records (registered agent privacy) or you just want it handled with the EIN and operating agreement included. If neither matters to you, file yourself.

How much is it all in to get an LLC going in Ohio? Like the filing fee plus agent plus whatever else... trying to budget properly before I start

$99 to the Ohio SoS if you file online, and that is genuinely it for state costs, Ohio has no annual report fee. Optional extras, $39 name reservation, expedited processing, and a registered agent service at $50 to 300 a year if you do not want to be your own. Budget $99 to $400 for year one depending on those choices.
